by Rebecca Evanne / Melina Ioannidou (SWE/CYP)

A double-bill of contemporary dance performances with one local performer and a visiting group from Cyprus.

MOD by Rebecca Evanne

This show is about facing your fears and the courage it takes to do that. It takes courage to let the body feel everything it needs to feel. It takes courage to let the body stay in those feelings until your mind can make sense of them, let the thoughts become clear and ask yourself the necessary questions to move forward.

We need the courage and the questions to let us;Dare to change a point of view.

Dare to set boundaries.

Dare to be uncomfortable.

Dare to really meet another person.

Dare to be right, wrong and not to know.

Dare to be able to change, to be kind and empathetic.

I wish for us to meet our fears but not to be controlled by them.I wish for us to be guided by courage.

Because if we dare to dare we gain so incredibly much.

MATCH POINT by Melina Ioannidou

Tennis has been a big chapter of my life since I held second place in the ranking order in Cyprus, in several championships during my adolescence. From the age of 7, my life was divided between tennis and dancing.

Countless hours in training for both. Combining them on stage was a long-standing desire since I saw the movements and techniques of tennis as highly danceable.

The challenge was to combine the movement material of the two disciplines in a contemporary way with a humoristic approach, in contrast to the extremely stressful reality of a match point, the plethora of emotions and intensity that characterizes the moment, where a single point determines the game.

by Sara Lisanti (ITA)

MUTA-MORFOSI is a silent, naked and raw body performance, that analyzes the

metamorphosis of an individual, locked in the shrine of his own suffering, narrated through the reptile’s molt process.

by Dårekisten Theatre (NOR)

"Foodora, the hero's journey, sex dolls and rock and roll."

A Working Class Hero is a theatrical performance exploring the mythical hero’s journey structure and asking the question "can I as a bicycle delivery rider, have a hero’s journey?

the piece uses dance, text, live music and projection to showcase the struggle in the outer and inner world of an ordinary person, on a hero’s journey.

by 4Culture Association (ROU)

The concept, developed under the artistic direction of choreographer and curator Andreea Căpitănescu, revolves around the idea that surveillance spaces can surprisingly foster a deep emotional intimacy that transcends the unequal authoritarian structure of technology.

Through poetic fragments written and recited by the artists, this performative intervention aims to connect with ourselves and others regardless of how the urban environment may divert or prevent us from creating deep and real connections. The intervention involves an individual audio system (headphones and receiver) accessible to each participant.

The artists of the performance will guide participants through shared choreographic actions while also incorporating moments of individual reflection experienced simultaneously. Through poetic fragments written and recited by the artists, this performative intervention aims to connect with ourselves and others regardless of how the urban environment may divert or prevent us from creating deep and real connections.

by Impram (SWE)

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the cuddly creatures from a rosy fairy tale would suddenly find themselves in the middle of horror story? Or if sci-fi aliens ended up on the dark streets of Film Noir? In Marriage of Genres the audience will see two separate stories in different genres get created on stage and eventually intertwine into something new.

Impram - The International Improv Theater in Gothenburg - creates longform theater shows without a script. Everything is created in the moment and the audience get a something completely new every time. Join us at our Fringe shows to laugh, cry, then probably laugh again!

by Karin Kindblom and Saga Samuelsdotter (SWE)

A video walk in the traces of a story.

Dreams, memories and events take place in our shared places. What remains when the moment has passed? Can the traces be observed or perceived?

What stories echo from me to you in different places? Stigbergstorget and Chapmans Torg might be the two greyest places in Gothenburg, but yet it carries a lot of stories. Two of these stories will be told at the places where it happened: Step into Stigbergstorget and the shoes of an old man reviving a nagging memory of a, potentially lost, love.

Enter Chapmans Torg and witness the creation of an epic piece by a group of young artists.

Good to know: this is a digital piece, accessible with a smartphone and preferably enjoyed with headphones. You scan the qr-code and follow the link, where you find the video. You will be watching the video seated on the same spot, only slightly moving your arms following the video. The video is free and you can watch it at any time of the day during the festival.

Eliano Nasr (LEB/SWE)

Join us for a fun-filled evening of laughs and giggles for Gothenburg English Comedy Night on Thurs, September 5th with Neville Raven all the way from the UK.

Where: The Abyss, Andra Långgatan 35, Gothenburg

Headliner: Neville Raven (UK)

Support acts: Milad Parchami (Persian/Sweden), Felix Valkvist (Sweden), Gabriel Åberg (Sweden), Maria Heilinger-Shalan (Sweden)

MC host Eliano (Lebanon)

Headliner bio: Neville Raven is the type of stand-up comedian that can appeal to any audience. His jokes will make you laugh with a strong dose of British humor! Neville started doing comedy in his native England in the mid-1990s. He participates in various festivals and often appears in radio and TV shows. When he notices that his clever jokes are working, it's time to spread his wings. After having performed in various places all over the world. With his dry jokes, Neville is a real pub comedian with an inseparable glass of beer in hand. But Neville is also a comedy sensation in theaters, student associations and comedy clubs.

by Love Dahlin and Emma Hörnell (SWE)

This is a double bill presenting two jugglers with very different and distinct styles.

Emma will present a mono-disciplinary performance where hula hoops are given the focus. There has been a huge evolution in modern circus in the last decades, sadly hula hoop has not followed suit and kept pace with other disciplines in this evolution. And it´s her drive to be part of pushing this plastic circle forward and searching for new ways of working with it, beyond what is expected.

This performance will bring you on a journey from the pressures of perfectionism to other absurdities.

Love's show is a visual juggling/dance asmr. Small movements get repeated and slowly evolves into something new. Pattern of movements loops and let the audience observe all the small details like they do watching a painting in a museum.

He is inspired by atmospheric music and how it with small changes can keep up the interest of the listener. Inspirations also come from nature, how the leaves move in the wind and the waves crash against a cliff.
